MAGAZINES/WEBZINES/RADIOS/FREELANCERS looking for free PROMOS, please read:
Due to the fact most of our releases are limited to 1000 copies or even less, and because we send complete actual CDs as promos (CD+all inserts, opposed to cardboard sleeve or naked CDs like many other labels do) we have only limited resources to operate with and are not able to fulfill all requests.
However, you still may be able to obtain promos from us. We'll even let you to select the titles you want to receive, if you cover for the shipping costs:
- $5 for shipping any size promo package to a domestic address within USA
- $13.45 for shipping any size promo package worldwide
* - packages shipped via priority small box, observe the prices at www.usps.com
You still need to qualify to our usual promo
requirements:
1. You need to be working for a serious ongoing publication which shows integrity, commitment, and substantial fanbase relevant to our releases.
2.
You need to contact us from an official domain-based e-mail. For instance if your magazine/webzine's website is www.your-magazine.com, your e-mail should be you@your-magazine.com
3. We will only ship to an official mailing address published on the publication's website. Please note that Myspace, Facebook, or any other free-based social networks and blogs etc., are NOT considered official websites.
4. We reserve the right to deny any request at our discretion, thanks.
Anyhow, if you have read through all this and are still not discouraged, please forward your promo request to metal@stormspell.com , thanks.
P.S. I really do not know how to make the above more clear, but since I still get tons of people arguing with me I'll try to clarify: In order to be able to verify you are who you claim to be I have to see you contacting me through official e-mail, or have your name and shipping address posted on the official website of whatever publications you work for.
This is so simple and monumental I cannot wrap my mind around the idea why someone would contact me through metalhmmer_666@gmail.com and expect me to believe he is writing for Metal Hammer and ship a bunch of cds to random address somewhere. IF YOU WORK FOR A SERIOUS MEDIA A PROPER CREDENTIALS IS THE LEAST YOU SHOULD HAVE, PERIOD!
Abide by the rules above, or just let go and move forward to harass another label. Arguing wont solve anything, you're just wasitng my time and yours!
P.S.S. We ship our promo packages via priority flat-rate small boxes. Go on www.usps.com and check how much postage costs before leaving stupid remarks and accusing me of "making money" on the postage. I can't believe I have to write this, doh
Note: we are registered business, so it is okay to draw money orders to Stormspell Records. Please note we do not accept personal checks at this time, thanks!
Bands: We are constantly looking for old and selected current classic heavy/power/speed/thrash albums to release. At the moment our preferencies are focused towards re-releasing old 80es albums/demos. If you are/were in such band and interested, please get in touch.
LABEL philosophy :
Stormspell Records is a small independent label with strong emphasis on classic heavy/power/speed/thrash metal re-releases from the glorious past, a.k.a the 80s. However, we also will release a few selected metal bands of today, as well as some melodic AOR/Hard rock gems we grew up with and still love.
Our releases are factory made silverback CDs with multi-page booklets.
For now, we limit our releases to 1000 copies, with first 100-250 copies of which being special edditions including extras such as but not limited to: hand-numbered slipcases, embroidered denim patches, CD/T-shirt combos, etc. We're always exploring different options and pleasantly surprise our customers with interesting and innovative packagewise solutions.
When applicable all our releases come with custom commisioned artwork from renowned illustrators. We are old-school and love the realistic hand-painted metal coverartworks from the 80s (Andreas Marschall, Ed Repka, Necrolord Wahlin, Kris Verwimp, etc.). We hate cheap-ass computer generated or monocromatic "bones-and-machine-parts" collages, thanks, but no thanks!
Moreover, we have no intention of making our releases available via any digital distributon (IE: Itunes, Rhapsody, etc). We grew up with vinyl and Cassette Tapes, and were around for the advent of Compact Discs. We love the physical aspect and the art of music as a whole, which unlike the direction of the industry today, will always consist of full packaging, stellar artwork, and top-notch graphic design. Music is more than downloaded mp3’s on your Ipod. Music is an art and we love to match great music with fine artwork and decent layout design. We hope this will be our legacy for the future world to come.
